Phi Delta Theta and Pi Beta Phi are partnering on Saturday, October 3, to host the 8th Annual Eve Carson Memorial 5K for Education to honor the legacy of former student body president and accomplished student, Eve Marie Carson.

As student body president, Eve had a vision to create a scholarship to honor outstanding senior students. After her tragic death, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill established the Eve Marie Carson Memorial Junior-Year Merit Scholarship. The award is a one-year merit scholarship that recognizes students who have realized their leadership potential while at Carolina. Proceeds from this year’s event will continue to benefit the Eve Marie Carson Memorial Junior-Year Merit Scholarship, the Pi Beta Phi Literacy Fund and CEO 4 Teens.

With registration reaching over 2,300 participants in the past, the Eve Carson Memorial 5K for Education holds the record for the largest campus race in history, and we are excited to see our numbers grow this year. Every year, each member of Phi Delta Theta plays an important role in raising support for this cause. Last year we raised over $116,000, a staggering amount made possible through generous donations and enthusiastic support from members of the community, our families, and alumni, and we would greatly appreciate your support for this year’s 5K.
